International Space Station Project

Description

The International Space Station (ISS) Project allows for students to conceive, design, build, test, integrate, qualify, deliver, launch, operate on orbit, and retrieve a MicroLab science experiment, to be launched during Q1/Q2 of 2013. The 1.5” x 1.8” x 6” MicroLab module
contains a digital camera and a student programmed micro-controller as well as the payload, known as the science experiment.

Maranatha Christian High School will be partnering with Valley Christian High School in San Jose on this project. The MicroLab will be in operation on the ISS for a minimum of 30 days. MicroLab experiment data will be downloaded to an astronaut’s laptop and sent to earth for evaluation by the students. If any on-orbit corrective action is required, the students can send correcting uplink commands to the MicroLab via the astronaut’s laptop. Students will present the flight results at the Cal Poly CubeSat Workshop in April 2013.
